Saddleback Wins Conference Golf Title

Saddleback won the Orange Empire Conference golf title, its 13th in 14 years, beating Palomar by 14 strokes over 36 holes Monday at Singing Hills Country Club in El Cajon.
All six Saddleback golfers finished among the top 11 and the Gauchos wound up with a total of 759. Saddleback, Palomar (773) and Cypress (783) advance to the Southern California Regional tournament Monday at Santa Ana Country Club.
Chris Beck of Orange Coast and Pat Backbom of San Diego Mesa shared medalist honors with a two-over-par 146.
