Boeing Co. Lost 1,187 Workers in Past Month: The Seattle-based company said its work force was reduced as it continued to shrink operations to match falling demand for its aircraft. Boeing had 111,215 employees as of April 15, down from 116,155 at the beginning of the year. Boeing has said it plans to cut 7,000 jobs this year. The aircraft maker said it laid off 685 workers in the month that ended April 15. Another 265 retired and 237 left for other reasons. Boeing stock fell 50 cents to close at $43.75 on the New York Stock Exchange in afternoon trading Friday.
