PREP SOCCER / SENIOR BOYS’ ALL-STAR GAME : Van De Ven, Quigley Lead South Team

Mater Dei’s Peter Van De Ven and Kevin Quigley lead an outstanding South squad in tonight’s Senior Boys’ All-Star soccer game at Chapman University.
Van De Ven recorded a county-high 16 shutouts this past season and Quigley had 23 goals and 14 assists for the Monarchs, who were the Southern Section Division II champions. Both earned first-team Times’ all-county honors, and Quigley was named the section’s Division II offensive player of the year.
Also playing for the South will be Times first-team members Oscar Cisneros of Saddleback and John Bamford of Santa Margarita.
Leading the North will be midfielder Joey Meza, the co-MVP of the Empire League who helped Cypress reach the Division II quarterfinals; Canyon forward Sasha Saneef, the Century League’s MVP, and El Dorado forward Bria Hurley, the offense MVP of the Empire League.
Game time is 6 p.m. General admission is $3; children 12 and younger will be admitted free.
