McDonnell Douglas, an aerospace facility in Huntington Beach, operates a Homework Hotline from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Employee volunteers, mostly engineers and accountants, work the phones to offer help.
Have the pros ever been stumped? Some high school chemistry and physics problems have given volunteers a run for their money, said one hot line helper, but brainstorming usually provides a solution.
