More than 5,000 people are expected at a march here Saturday to raise money for the March of Dimes. The nonprofit organization raises about a third of its national budget at the yearly marches, which will be held in more than 1,400 communities, organizers said.
Orange County organizers hope to raise more than $425,000 to prevent birth defects. The event is titled “Walk for Healthier Babies.”
Money raised will be used for research, community service advocacy and health education. The March of Dimes is now working to reduce infant mortality and low birth weight.
Marchers will meet at the Magnolia Street entrance to Huntington State Beach on Pacific Coast Highway and follow an eight-mile, oceanfront route. To participate, call (714) 631-8700.
