Cypress, Fr.
Softball / Pitcher
Lopez, from Tustin High School, pitched four shutout innings Monday as Cypress beat Irvine Valley, 9-2, and beat Riverside, 5-0, Wednesday with a complete game. But her most impressive performance came in a 4-3 victory over Orange Coast Friday. Lopez received a spike wound on her hand in the first inning and after a 20-minute delay to attend to the injury, she returned and didn’t allow a run the rest of the way and the Chargers rallied for a 4-3 victory. Lopez started the week with a 13-8 record and a 0.76 earned-run average.
Other notables:
* Nicole Shammas, Orange Coast, had four hits to improve her average to an Orange Empire Conference-best .469.
