Darren Angel
SCHOOL: Granada Hills
SPORT: Golf
YEAR: Junior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Angel picked up were he left off last year, when he won the City Section championship. Angel has shot above par in only three matches this season and credits his consistency with improved iron play. The defending City Section champion Highlanders are tied for first place with Taft and Grant in the City 5-A League.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: In a match against Simi Valley last Monday, Angel bogeyed the first hole but went on to break the course record at Knollwood Country Club with a 63. Two weeks earlier, Angel tied the course record with a 64. “I was driving the ball great and everything else fell into place,” he said. The course record is Angel’s second. He holds the standard of 63 at Wood Ranch Country Club in Simi Valley.
