Teamsters, Trucking Firms Continue Talks: The union and hauling companies said they will form subcommittees to review and discuss the major issues that triggered a nationwide strike two weeks ago. Truck Management Inc., which represents the 20 firms that remain in the strike, said that “there are still wide gaps dividing the parties” but agreed to keep talks open. The strike began over management proposals to add part-time workers in truck terminals, ship more freight on trains and use binding arbitration to settle contract disputes. More than 70,000 Teamsters are still on the picket lines.
