Cypress Wins, Drops Fullerton Out of First

CYPRESS — Jenny Lopez pitched a four-hitter as host Cypress won its seventh consecutive Orange Empire Conference softball game Monday with a 2-1 victory over Fullerton.
The loss dropped Fullerton (21-14, 11-4) out of first place for the first time this season. Orange Coast, which beat Riverside, 3-1, Monday, has a one-game lead over the Hornets.
Lopez (14-8), who walked seven, was far from solid. Cypress (34-14, 10-5 in conference) also made four errors. Fullerton left 13 runners on.
Alison Murphy scored on a two-out error in the fourth to break a 1-1 tie.
