A Renaissance Affair

It’s rowdy and a tad raunchy, daring and delightful--an outdoor fair like no other in this century. The annual Renaissance Pleasure Faire returns weekends and Memorial Day beginning Saturday, through June 5, at the field adjacent to Blockbuster Pavilion, in Glen Helen Regional Park in Devore (off I-15 in San Bernardino).
Armored knights will demonstrate their riding and jousting skills and Her Majesty’s soldiers will go to battle against renegade Scots. Crafts, music and dancing and strolling performers add to the period ambience.
The Elizabethan village atmosphere is full of activities for children, including the Dragon Maze, a five-person swing, merry-go-round and a free crafts area, called Mistress Miranda’s Traditional School.
Foods include corn on the cob, turkey legs, imported sausages, shepherd’s pie and sweets. Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Admission is $16.50 ($14.50 in advance); students, seniors and military, $13.50; children 5-11, $7.50. Parking is $5.
