Memories of Women Who Inspired Her
Jane Garrison’s article about Nellie Bly (“Nellie Bly, Girl Reporter,” March 28) took me back to my childhood in the ‘50s and ‘60s when I was a voracious reader of biographies. Women such as Nellie Bly, Amelia Earhart, Madame Curie, Clara Barton and (Unsinkable) Molly Brown became my heroes. They excited my imagination with their intelligence, daring and perseverance.
Although I am not daring, I followed in their footsteps in my own quiet way by becoming a licensed traffic engineer with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering.
