An inmate who escaped from the Peter J. Pitchess Honor Rancho and then--clad only in his underwear--allegedly robbed a woman of her car and jewelry was captured Sunday at a Palmdale motel, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
Timothy Ferhenback, 29, who was awaiting trial on a robbery charge, was reported missing late Saturday night, authorities said. A woman who lives near the jail reported that a man wearing only his undershorts and carrying a club broke into her house Saturday night and stole her jewelry and the keys to her car, sheriff’s Deputy Benita Hinojos said.
Acting on a tip, sheriff’s deputies scoured local hotels and motels and found Ferhenback with his girlfriend and her two children, said sheriff’s deputy Angie McLaughlin.
The girlfriend, Kristie Hagen , 26, was booked on suspicion of harboring a fugitive, McLaughlin said.
