I always read the Food Section of the L.A. Times. Don’t know why--I’m a lousy cook. I guess I like to read about what other people go through. I also read the restaurant reviews--just in case I can ever get my husband to eat out.
But I’m especially glad I read Doris Silverton’s story, “Lord God King of the Universe and President of the Motion Picture Academy” (March 24). It was wonderful. I really laughed out loud. Not only is she a wonderful writer, but my husband was born in Italy and had old-country parents. In family relationships, the Jewish and Italian cultures are so much alike. The story brought back many happy and funny memories.
