TriStar Pictures Names Distribution Chief: The studio appointed Pat Notaro, who had been senior vice president and general sales manager at Columbia Pictures, as its executive vice president of distribution. Notaro fills the spot formerly held by William Soady, who is now chief executive of Showscan. Notaro at Columbia worked on distributing such films as “A River Runs Through It,” “In the Line of Fire” and “Groundhog Day.” TriStar and Columbia are both owned by Sony Corp.
