COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Cypress Beats Orange Coast to Stay in First

Aaron France pitched a three-hitter and Jason Hodges hit two home runs as host Cypress beat Orange Coast, 6-2, Tuesday in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game.
France struck out 10 and walked three.
Hodges and David Trentine hit home runs in the second as the Chargers took a 3-1 lead. Hodges added a two-run homer in the third to put the Chargers ahead, 5-1. He has six home runs this season.
Cypress (22-8, 8-3 in conference) remains in a first-place tie with Riverside.
In other Orange Empire Conference games:
Riverside 6, Fullerton 5 (10)--Rusty McNamara singled in the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 10th. Riverside is 21-6, 8-3.
Steve Escobar had three hits, including two doubles and a triple, with two runs scored and three RBIs for Fullerton (15-12, 6-7). Teammates Tim Walker, Brent Coon and John Gardikis each had two hits.
Rancho Santiago 5, Saddleback 4--Brandon Hoalton struck out seven and gave up three earned runs in eight innings to lead Rancho Santiago (24-6, 7-4). Hoalton, a sophomore right-hander, is 7-2.
Keith Cowley had an RBI single to score Matt Kastelic with the winning run in the eighth inning.
Saddleback is 16-9, 7-6.
In nonconference baseball:
L.A. Harbor 7, Golden West 6 (10)--Phil Ruhl hit a three-run homer in the Rustlers’ six-run second inning. Golden West is 11-13.
In Orange Empire Conference softball:
Rancho Santiago 1, Golden West 0--Jocelyne Patrick pitched the first no-hitter in four years for Rancho Santiago (18-13, 6-3).
In Orange Empire Conference men’s tennis:
Saddleback 9, Irvine Valley 0--Steen Lundblad of Saddleback (16-2, 9-0) defeated Bobby Nichols 6-4, 6-2, in No. 1 singles.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s tennis:
Golden West 7, Cypress 2--Stacie Meeks won, 3-6, 6-1, 6-0, Leila Ryan won, 6-2, 6-0, then the two teamed up to win, 6-2, 6-1, in doubles for Golden West (6-4, 5-3).
