Dentures Deflect Gunshot From Robber

FT. PIERCE, Fla. — A 66-year-old man credits his dentures with deflecting a gunshot and saving his life, police said Tuesday.
Richard Daniel was sitting outside his house during the weekend when a young man on a bicycle pointed a gun at him and demanded his wallet, police said. Daniel pulled a knife from his pocket and began struggling with the robber, who shot upward at Daniel’s chin.
The dentures split but stopped the bullet from penetrating farther into Daniel’s head, police said. He was treated at a hospital and released.
The gunman got away with Daniel’s wallet but suffered stab wounds on his chest and hand.
