Adopt-a-School’s Unsung Hero
I was impressed with your cover story on the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Adopt-a-School program, the nation’s largest (“Part of the Family,” June 6).
What was missing was at least a reference to the person who spent the past several years bringing it to this point, Wayne Carlson. He had been the director of the Partnerships and Adopt-a-School Office since before the school district formally established the function and stayed until very recently when he and so many other professionals retired from the district.
A tip of the hat to Wayne Carlson, who almost single-handedly made his operation a national model for other school systems.
