PORT HUENEME : Another Fire Hits Silver Strand Area
- Share via
Fire damaged a garage in the beach community of Silver Strand near Port Hueneme Sunday evening, an area plagued by a series of arson-caused fires over the past 10 months.
The blaze originated in a garage in the 200 block of Hollywood Boulevard just after 6 p.m., a spokeswoman for the Ventura County Fire Department said.
No one was injured in the fire, which took three firefighters 20 minutes to extinguish, officials said.
Sunday’s blaze was the 24th in or near the six-block Silver Strand area since last fall.
Fire investigators gave no cause for the fire, but a neighbor said it may have occurred when flammable items were placed too close to a water heater.
The previous fires resulted in more than $300,000 worth of property damage, officials said.
