Alaska Airlines Flight Attendant Talks Collapse

SEATTLE — Alaska Air Group said Saturday that its Alaska Airlines unit and the union representing 1,560 flight attendants had failed to reach a contract agreement after a final round of all-night talks.
The Assn. of Flight Attendants has threatened the airline with unannounced work stoppages.
“Our tactic is creative chaos,” an AFA spokesman said Saturday. “You’ll never know if the flight that you’re booked on is actually going to go or not.”
The company said it will continue to operate its complete schedule.
The talks broke down 12 hours after a 12:01 a.m. Saturday strike deadline expired. The union has said that the two sides are far apart on pay hikes and health insurance benefits.
