Nation IN BRIEF : WASHINGTON STATE : Pact Eludes Alaska Airlines, Attendants

Alaska Air Group said that its Alaska Airlines unit and the union representing 1,560 flight attendants had failed to reach a contract agreement after a final round of all-night talks. The Assn. of Flight Attendants has threatened the airline with unannounced work stoppages. The company said it will continue to operate its complete schedule. The talks broke down 12 hours after a 12:01 a.m. Saturday strike deadline expired.
