Alvin C. Gladden, an early real estate developer in Simi Valley, has died. He was 79.
After serving in the Navy during World War II, Gladden came to California from Oklahoma. According to his son-in-law, Mel Zikes, Gladden “saw the possibilities of Simi Valley” and capitalized on them.
Gladden developed Blackwell Street and other early housing tracts in Simi Valley and, in 1965, he founded Time Realty.
He died Tuesday in Sacramento, where he had lived since retiring.
Gladden is survived by his wife, Wanza; sons, Jerry of Simi Valley and Donald of La Canada Flintridge; daughter, Kathryn Zikes of Sacramento; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Services were held Friday in Sacramento.
