It’s Eccentric as Clinton Adviser Suffers Roasting

WASHINGTON — Washington’s Democratic Establishment turned out Thursday night for a celebrity roast of a man said to have overcome his resemblance to a serial killer to help elect a President.
And that was one of the nicer things said about James Carville, President Clinton’s political adviser, at a benefit for the liberal Independent Action political action committee.
Hillary Rodham Clinton, stopping by at the beginning of the dinner, said those who don’t know Carville think he tries hard to be eccentric. “He’s actually trying very hard to be normal and not ever quite getting there,” she said.
Harry Thomason, Clinton’s Hollywood producer friend, said Carville’s two years as a Marine corporal “makes him the highest-ranking military officer in the Clinton Administration.”
He called Carville “a man who has not let the fact that he looks like a serial killer keep him from electing a President of the United States.”
The roast raised $250,000 for Democratic candidates.
