KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. — The space shuttle Endeavour is scheduled to lift off Sunday on an eight-day mission to snare Eureca, a European satellite that has been orbiting almost a year. Astronauts will bring the satellite back to Earth so researchers can recover seeds, mushroom spores, crystals, cosmic dust, solar monitors, and a telescope that detects X-rays and gamma rays.
The astronauts will also squeeze in a four-hour spacewalk to test techniques planned for a December mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope’s flawed mirror.
