Bell Gardens : Charles Gomez Is Chosen for City Manager Post
- Share via
Charles Gomez, who has been serving as interim city manager since March, has been given the job.
The City Council gave him an open-ended contract last week with a guarantee of six months’ severance pay if he is fired. He will be paid $96,000 a year.
Gomez was hired after the council fired William Vasquez. Several council members said Vasquez did not have the experience needed to run the city.
Gomez, who had been the city manager in Lynwood for more than a decade, was recommended to city officials through the League of California Cities, which places temporary city managers in cities statewide.
