Mattel Buys Stake in New Zealand Toy Supplier: The company said it has acquired a 60% interest in Croner Toys Ltd., the largest supplier of toys in New Zealand. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Mattel Inc., which has been Croner’s largest supplier of toys for the New Zealand marketplace since 1989, posted 1992 sales of $1.85 billion, half of which was generated outside the United States. “Expansion of our international business is a principal company objective,” said Lindsay Williams, president of the Mattel International unit.
