Semiconductor Firm Loses $210,000 in 1st Quarter

Semtech Corp., a Newbury Park maker of semiconductors and other electronic components, lost $210,000 in its fiscal first quarter ended May 2, partly because of “reorganization and employee termination costs,” the company said in a written statement. It did not elaborate, and company officials did not return phone calls.
A year earlier, Semtech earned $152,000.
The company’s first-quarter revenue was $5.05 million, up slightly from $5.03 million a year before. Semtech said it is continuing to explore ways to streamline its business, including reducing overhead at facilities in Texas and Scotland.
