5 European Theme Parks Team Up to Compete With Euro Disneyland

PARIS — Five of Europe’s largest theme parks said Monday that they are teaming up to offset intense competition from Walt Disney Co.’s Euro Disneyland.
The parks will offer visitors discount coupons for use at the four other parks and intensify efforts to ensure that travel agents do not over-promote Euro Disneyland.
The parks, grouped together under the name Great European Theme Parks, are Alton Towers in England, Europa-Park in Germany, Liesberg in Sweden, Efteling in the Netherlands and Parc Asterix in France.
Together, the five parks drew 9.8 million visitors in 1992, compared to the 11 million who visited Euro Disneyland in its first 12 months since opening in April, 1992.
