Cancer Support Program: For those traumatized by the specter of cancer, there is a place that offers treatment not only for the body but for the soul--support much like that offered by Alcoholics Anonymous.
The Oncology Care Center in Laguna Beach offers spiritual guidance as an integral part of the patient’s treatment. Patients--and their families--are administered a strong dose of counseling and mental health treatment as well as chemotherapy, radiation and surgery.
“The treatment program is based on a framework of basic Judeo-Christian principles, similar to those observed by Alcoholics Anonymous,” director Martin Hubbard said.
