Mystery Train and its singer-songwriter Michael Ubaldini expect to close a recording deal soon with a Japanese label, EMI/Toshiba. Ubaldini, who lives in Fountain Valley and who previously fronted such raw, roots-conscious bands as the Earwigs and the King Rockers, says Mystery Train takes some of its biggest cues from the Band and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Lee Rocker, the bassist for the Stray Cats, has been lined up as the group’s producer, Ubaldini added. Mystery Train plays June 29 at Lucy’s Club BBG, 353 E. Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach.
