A 19-year-old Fillmore man was gunned down early Sunday in a Fillmore parking lot, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said.
Ruben Felix was in serious but stable condition in the intensive care unit at Santa Paula Memorial Hospital, a nursing supervisor said. The nursing supervisor declined to say specifically where Felix was wounded or how many times he was shot.
Deputies answered a 3:15 a.m. Sunday call of shots being fired in the 600 block of Lemon Way.
They found Felix on the ground with gunshot wounds to the lower body, Sheriff’s Lt. Gary Markley said.
Felix was transported to the Santa Paula hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
Markley said the motive for shooting is unknown and said the case is under investigation.
