SYDNEY, Australia — A great white shark that officials believed killed a scuba diver on his honeymoon was spotted Friday, but escaped as hunting boats raced to the area.
Police said a helicopter crew saw the shark about 300 yards off Hastings Point, about 75 miles south of brisbane. Shark hunters failed to find it, Senior Constable Daryl Rodgers said.
The 16-foot shark matched the description of one that killed John Ford, 31, off the nearby resort town of Byron Bay on Wednesday.
