District Attorney Seeks Volunteer Mediators
- Share via
The Ventura County district attorney’s office is seeking volunteers to help resolve disputes between consumers and businesses.
Consumer mediators, who are asked to serve for at least six months, provide both consumers and businesses with information regarding their legal rights and obligations.
They also try to help resolve disputes between consumers and businesses without litigation.
The district attorney’s consumer mediation unit handles inquiries in a variety of areas, including automobile repair and service contracts, billing and contract disputes, business opportunity solicitations, home-improvement contracts, insurance, mail-order problems, landlord-tenant disputes, merchandise repair and service problems, telemarketing solicitations and warranty disputes.
The consumer mediation section recently applied for a renewal of a grant administered by the county of Ventura to enhance the opportunities for resolving disputes.
