Graduation ceremonies will take place beginning today at 10 Simi Valley elementary schools to mark the completion of 17-week Drug Awareness Resistance Education, or D.A.R.E., courses for sixth-grade students.
In the D.A.R.E. program, Simi Valley police officers join local educators in teaching children how to resist peer pressure and avoid using illegal drugs.
Each student who has completed the D.A.R.E course will receive a certificate. Parents and friends have been invited to the ceremonies.
Graduation ceremonies are scheduled today at Madera, White Oak and Santa Susana schools; Wednesday at Lincoln and Knolls schools; Thursday at Berylwood, Katherine and St. Rose of Lima schools, and Monday at Parkview and Justin schools.
