Tiny Toon Week, Mardi Gras on Tap
For nine weeks this summer, day campers at the Boys & Girls Club of San Fernando Valley can look forward to a changing schedule of activities revolving around different themes.
During Mardi Gras week, for example, the campers will put on their own carnival, dance and costume contest. A trip to Disneyland and a cartooning class are planned during Tiny Toon week. And for Western week, a barbecue and hoedown are planned.
Some of the activities offered during the nine-week summer day camp program are swimming, arts and crafts, and instruction in music, dance and drama.
The program also includes computer training and a tutorial program to teach English and math.
The day camp, open to youngsters ages 6 through 12, will be held from July 6 to Sept. 3. Sign-ups will be taken starting June 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The weekly fees are $25 for members and $35 for non-members. Low-income residents who qualify pay a special rate of $15 a week.
