Re “Paying Homage to Roy and Dale” by Bob Sipchen, Dec. 20): Roy Rogers has killed and has had stuffed “red foxes, silver foxes, a cheetah, a snarling lion, three timber wolves, a grizzly bear, raccoons, skunks, African dik-diks, a mountain lion, bobcats, an alligator, a huge bull elephant and three baboons whose heads have been mounted in a ‘hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil’ pose.”
Such an affront to wildlife, some of which is ‘endangered species’, is hard to comprehend.
With Roger’s affinity for taxidermy, I suggest that on his demise, he will that his trigger hand be mounted in such a posture as to give symbolic credence to his taste and self-aggrandizement.
