Let’s Open the Mail Bag and Take the Rubber Band Off Stack of ’87 : Over-Blown Bruins

Everything was set up for UCLA this year. Not only did the NCAA increase the value of a field goal by 50%, for a so-called outside shot, but the Pac-10 created a postseason tournament to be played on UCLA’s home court.

Yet all UCLA could do was defeat mighty Cental Michigan (seeded No. 13 in the West). This was the Bruins’ first and only nonconference win on the road this season. Besides beating only weak Pac-10 teams or winning at home, UCLA proved only one thing: That it is vastly overrated.
