Local News in Brief : Mission Viejo : Elks Lodge to Award College Scholarships

The Mission Viejo-Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge will award six college scholarships, ranging from $250 to $750, to seniors from El Toro, Laguna Hills, Mission Viejo, Capistrano and Trabuco Hills high schools.
The winners, three girls and three boys, may then compete on the district level and, if successful, on the state and national levels. The top Elks scholarships, one for a girl and the other for a boy, are for $20,000 each.
The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic performance, leadership and financial need. The deadline for applications, which are available in high school counseling offices, is mid-February.
