Community College Basketball Roundup : Fullerton Beats Palomar on Queen’s Late 3-Pointer

Sophomore Darrin Queen made a three-point shot with five seconds left to lift Fullerton College to a 73-70 victory over Palomar Wednesday in a men’s nonconference basketball game at Fullerton.
Fullerton trailed, 47-31, at halftime but rallied behind sophomore guard Troy Joseph, who scored 14 of his game-high 23 points in the second half.
Kevin Patrick scored 12 points, Geoff Adams 10 and Queen 8 for Fullerton (10-4).
Joseph became the first player at Fullerton to sign a scholarship before the end of a season when he signed with New Mexico State this week.
In the Los Angeles Valley tournament:
Southwestern 58, Orange Coast 53--Dareck Crane scored 12 points, but Orange Coast lost the third-place game. David Miles, who leads OCC in scoring with a 21-point average, was held to 6 against Southwestern because of an ankle injury suffered Tuesday. OCC is 11-8.
In a women’s nonconference game:
Saddleback 61, Southwestern 34--Anna Harmon scored 19 points and had 19 rebounds to lead Saddleback. Harmon had 12 offensive rebounds, including 8 in the first half.
Saddleback shot 33% (27 of 84) and Southwestern shot 24% (16 of 66). But Southwestern shot just 18% (6 of 33) in the first half as Saddleback (6-7) opened a 31-13 lead.
Kelly Ann Wilson added 16 points and Julia Monaghan 11 for Saddleback, which has only six players.
