- After nearly four years as program director of progressive rock radio station XTRA-FM (91X), Todd Ralston, aka “Mad Max,” has resigned, reportedly at the request of station management.

A 91X source who asked to remain anonymous said Ralston’s abrupt departure was prompted by several months of steadily declining ratings. Tapped as his replacement is Trip Reeb, who takes over programming chores Jan. 4 in the newly created position of operations manager.

Reeb comes to San Diego from Denver, where he was operations manager with rock station KAZY-FM. Previously, he had programmed stations in San Antonio and Chicago; during the 1970s, he was an on-air personality in New York, Philadelphia and San Diego, where he was a deejay on classical station KFSD-FM (94.1).
