NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. — More than 100 workers suspended for wearing Santa Claus hats on the job are going back to work without their headgear and with a little less holiday spirit, a union spokesman said today.
“They’re not in agreement in any way, shape or form. However, we’re not going to jeopardize people’s jobs over something this silly and asinine,” said Lenny Zabiegalski, president of Local 1992 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. The union represents about 230 employees of the Okonite Co., an electrical cable manufacturer which began suspending people last week for wearing the red hats with white trim.
