A Venice man died of injuries suffered after a Dec. 6 explosion that was triggered when he opened a package concealing a homemade bomb.
Richard Hill, 48, died at County-USC Medical Center.
The force of the bomb blew out front windows and knocked the front door off its hinges at his home in the 2400 block of Louella Avenue.
Two sons, Victor, 19, and Michael, 27, who were in an adjoining living room, escaped injury.
Hill, whose younger son had brought the package into the house, was opening the box in the kitchen when the explosion occurred.
Los Angeles police detectives declined to say whether they had determined a motive or have any suspects in the case.
