Local News in Brief : East County : Cleveland Forest Selling Permits to Gather Wood
- Share via
Permits for removal of firewood from Cleveland National Forest are being sold for $20 each.
The permits--offered on a first-come, first-serve basis--allow people to remove up to one cord of dead or fallen timber from Cleveland National Forest through September, 1988.
Most of the wood is small-diameter pine and chaparral, along with some oak. To obtain wood permit holders will have to travel over rough back-country dirt roads that are frequently closed because of the danger of fire or bad weather.
Permits are available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at the Corona Ranger Station, 1147 E. Sixth St., Corona. For more information, call (714) 736-1811.
