The Tokyo Stock Exchange will admit 22 new members, of which 16 are foreign securities firms, effective in May. Six of the 16 foreign firms are U.S.-based, four are British, two Swiss, two German and two French. The U.S.-based members are Salomon Bros. Asia Ltd.; First Boston Asia Ltd.; Smith Barney, Harris Upham International; Kidder, Peabody International Corp.; Shearson Lehman Bros. Asia, and Prudential-Bache Securities Japan Ltd. The additions raise the total to 114 members, of which 22 are owned by non-Japanese firms.
