Soviets Skiers Win 30K Relay

STRBSKE PLESO, Czechoslovakia — The Soviet Union made up a nearly 5 1/2-minute handicap Sunday in the 30-kilometer relay to win the first event of the World Cup Nordic Combined competition.
The winning Soviet team included Allar Levandi, Andrei Dundukov and Vasili Savin, and they were timed in 1 hour 27 minutes 56.2 seconds for 1,227.6 points.
Favored Austria, which won Saturday’s jumping event, was second in 1:28:09.2 and 1225.0 points.
The Soviets lead the overall standings with 80 points, while Austria is second with 70.
