In her career, actress Jessica Tandy has won three Tony Awards for her roles on Broadway. The most recent was in 1983 for her portrayal of Annie Nations in “Foxfire,” in which she co-starred with her husband Hume Cronyn.
Tandy, Cronyn and “Foxfire” will come to television this week in a “Hallmark Hall of Fame” presentation of the play, airing Sunday from 9 to 11 p.m. on CBS (Channels 2 and 8). John Denver, shown with Tandy and Cronyn on the cover, co-stars as their son.
Cronyn co-wrote the play with Susan Cooper, a story that moves from past to present and revolves around a mountain farm family that is rooted to the land at a time when the roots are growing weaker and the family smaller.
Marian Rees was executive producer, Dorothea Petrie the producer and Jud Taylor directed. The drama was filmed in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.
