The L.A. Metal Scene
Just what we needed, another story about how popular metal is in L.A. I think everyone that lives here already knows that and is sick to death of hearing about it.
One thing that bothered me about the story was the way it made it sound as if punk was real popular at one time and then metal took over.
No punk band has ever played at a place bigger than the Olympic Auditorium and metal and hard-rock bands have always played at huge arenas. Things haven’t changed that much, it’s just what the media is hyping now.
Someone should do a documentary entitled “The Decline of Penelope Spheeris.” Then we could find out how she sold out and turned into another dime-a-dozen headbanger.
She obviously didn’t learn anything from her excellent first film.
