Plans to build an Olympic aquatic center at Brookside Park received a $185,000 boost from the city, which will help pay for construction of the $3-million project.
The center would include a 50-meter Olympic-sized pool, a 25-meter warm-up pool, a deep-water pool for diving and water polo and a shallow children’s pool.
The RoseBowl Aquatic Center project has received $190,000 from the state, $250,000 from the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles, $225,000 from the city and $85,000 in private donations.
Construction is set to begin next summer and be completed by early 1989.
