Pennzoil Co. directors Wednesday elected Randal B. McDonald as the company’s new president and chief operating officer.
McDonald’s election was announced by J. Hugh Liedtke, Pennzoil chairman and chief executive. He replaces Richard Howe, who was president since 1985 and took early retirement last month.
In addition to his duties as president and chief operating officer, McDonald will serve as a director and member of Houston-based Pennzoil’s executive committee.
McDonald, 57, worked 35 years for Arthur Andersen & Co., where he held several posts including chief financial officer and managing partner at the Chicago world headquarters and managing partner of the firm’s worldwide oil and gas industry department.
“We are delighted that Randal McDonald, with his strong financial background and expertise in oil and gas matters, will become a key member of the Pennzoil organization,” Liedtke said.
McDonald has worked extensively with companies in the oil and gas industry.
