The Army’s Central Identification Laboratory in Hawaii has identified two of three sets of remains of U.S. servicemen repatriated to the United States by Vietnam on Sept. 24, the Pentagon said. Efforts are continuing to identify the third set. The Pentagon identified one of the servicemen as Maj. Roger E. Behnfeldt, the pilot of an RF-4 reconnaissance jet. Behnfeldt, who listed his home of record as Defiance, Ohio, was 27 years old when he disappeared over North Vietnam on Aug. 19, 1972, a Defense Department statement said. The identity of the other serviceman will be withheld at his family’s request “pending final disposition arrangements.”
