Karen Keltner, San Diego Opera’s associate conductor and music administrator, will return to Florida’s Orlando Opera next week to conduct Gian Carlo Menotti’s “Amahl and the Night Visitors.”
Last year, Keltner and the 76-year-old composer inaugurated this “Amahl” holiday festival for the Orlando company. Keltner will carry forth without Menotti this time, but she takes with her for guidance and good luck the “Amahl” score Menotti annotated for her during their collaboration.
When Keltner returns to San Diego, she will begin work on Gounod’s “Faust,” which she will conduct for San Diego Opera, opening on Feb. 13.
